Mission Statement:

When my grandfather was ailing with Parkinson's, it took a lot of effort to keep him at home. My grandmother, who recently was displaced from her home of thirty-five years, stayed in her home for another ten after he passed, because there were people around to help with the little things day to day. Every since I can remember I have loved caring for, listening to, and being friends with the elderly.

I have spent the last twenty-five years raising my own six children, and not a lot has changed, except that all the elderly folks in my family have passed and the economy keeps getting worse.

My husband works really hard but every day it seems like we are getting by with less and less, and then I decided I would need to pursue something other than the many artistic endeavors I am already pursuing. I would need to work part-time. But what was the best way? Well I really love caring for people and I want to stay focused on the skills I have that are the strongest. I also don't need to earn a lot of money, just enough to help keep food on the table and the utility bills paid. A modest goal I assure you.

So this is what I came up with, helping the elderly maintain independent lives and households. I am not a medical professional. I have no special care qualifications at all, and I am not looking for nursing care. So, what can I do? I can do light housekeeping, cook means, bring in the meal, check on whether or not folks are taking the vitamins, that sort of thing. I am a trained multi-ethnic chef and I am also willing to drive able bodied elderly to do the grocery shopping if it's nearby. I say nearby because I want to remain affordable for anyone I care for. That's why I will be working for folks for only $15. hr. (There is a two hour minimum on all visits.) Each visit will need advance scheduling, with an application either: in person, by link and printing from this site, or by mail. For those seeking care for their loved ones, you can pay on-line via Paypal, but that is after the application and scheduling process has occured.
